2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class - Consumer Discussions

Mercedes Benz generations. Mercedes-Benz has learned its lesson. The W107 SL was sold for nearly 20 years, the car's exterior was changed VERY LITTLE, imagine having the same basic SL for that long with only moldings being changed. Those days are gone. In the early 2000's, 01-02 Mercedes-Benz released a press release saying that from now on, Mercedes Benz would only keep a current model for 3-5 years at the most without changing it. In other words, the W208 CLK which was made in 2000 is nolonger made. The newer CLK is the W209, so I would think we should see a new CLK in a couple years give or take. Mercedes-Benz has had the W211 E class out for a few years now and this year they gave it a facelift so I dont look for that car to be around much longer. Also another good indicator of when they'er about to bring a new model out is the AMG model cars. When the AMG model car has been out for about a year and a half or 2 years you can look for a new model. And just as Mercedes did with the CLK they took the 430 and upgraded it to the new 550 engine, I would look for them to increase horsepower in the next generation CLK as well. The real changes in these cars is what you cant see. Mercedes-Benz like many other luxury car makers have started using Aluminum, Magnesium, Boron, etc in their cars. Because of the gas issues Aluminum has become the new favorite metal for exterior and some structural members, because it weighs less and is still strong.

Change Vehicle Mercedes-Benz CLK (2006 and newer)

hey what do you think that the CLK 2006 will have of a difference.I haven't heard anything just yet I was hoping if someone knew.

Hi everyone, I am new to the Mercedes forum. I am currently in the market for a new car and am considering the 2006 bmw 330i fully loaded. My hesitation currently is that the sport seats are not very comfortable but I would still have to have the sport package.

My brother has a mercedes and told me about the 2006 clk coming out with a 3.5 v6. Does anyone have an idea of the hp and torque? The current 3.2 version seems anemic compared to the other German 3.2's offered by audi, bmw etc.

Are there any other good forums to get on to learn about the 2006 clk, i can't find any info on edmunds, mercedes usa site etc.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mercedes Benz CLK 230 Kompressor Reviews

Mercedes Benz CLK 230 Kompressor
Bought this car 6 months ago as a daily hack. It's quick, economical, very comfortable, quiet and handles well. Above all it's been totally reliable. My wife loves it. The rear seats fold so its load capacity is almost equal to a van. On the road it feels planted and safe, floor it and it can go very well, it's no out and out sports  the neither is it in any way harsh or challenging.
It's still used as a daily hack, but we've decided its a keeper. So it's being looked after.
These cars are total bargains, cheap to buy, good on fuel @ 35 mpg ish, very comfortable. Servicing via good independents inexpensive.
Nothing bad to say about the 230 clk, ours is rust free, but because we like it we will take preventative measures to ensure it stays that way.
One minus point, when the rear window gets wet in heavy rain, the view out of the rear view mirror can be compromised. Would have been better with a rear wiper.
